Fire resistance

Fire resistance of an MGO board compared to an OSB board at 2.000 Degrees Celsius.

The Canadian Company SHLD Building Systems made a fire test, to demonstrate the fire resistance of its panel MEGCRETE compared to an OSB panel. The MEGCRETE panel comprised one MGO pannel on each side, with a 15 cm polystyrene insulation in between, whereas the OSB part had also one OSB panel on each side, with a 15 cm gypsum board with fiberglass.

It is clearly demonstrated that fifty minutes after ignition, the MGO part (either inside or outside board) was still standing unaffected, whereas the OSB part was totally destroyed.

Earthquake resistance

The University of San Diego built a 6-storey building with a CFS frame and MGO cement board, to experiment and determine its behavior in a 6.7 Richter earthquake in the San Francisco fault. The test was performed on the world's largest pulsating platform.

Since the metal construction is several times lighter than the classical one, the earthquake stress is much less.

The experiment proves the excellent behavior of CFS construction in a 6.7 Richter earthquake.

Construction speed

Total time needed for a 120 m2 house, is 60 days.
